Sometimes in your travels you stumble across something that makes you smile. We were taking mum to Kandy to see the Temple of the Tooth Relic when we saw the temple elephant lying on the ground. Curious, we walked over to see what was happening. Lying on the ground with his big eyes closed, the elephant was getting a full body scrub/massage/cleanse from his handlers or mahouts. He looked so relaxed as the men washed and scrubbed his leathery body with coconut husks. Not once did he open his eyes, he was in pure bliss. It was lovely to see the care these guys took to give their charger a bath and how much he enjoyed it.
