Polonnaruwa is one of the points of the cultural triangle, the other two being Anuradhapura and Kandy. An ancient monastery, it’s filled with old dagobas, pagodas, and temples. It’s a sprawling complex over a few kilometers with the highlight the giant statues of Buddha carved out of granite.
